Through the baseline surveys and need assessments, it was revealed that the Government healthcare system in the rural areas of Varanasi is many of the times insufficient to address the health needs of the people. The villagers have to either live with their illness or go to the private hospital which leads to huge out-of-pocket expenditure. Moreover the health behavior pattern of the population becomes misaligned to the preventive approach leading to long term complications. Considering the need, Kutumb NGO wants to initiate a comprehensive health project in marginalized villages of Varanasi with the objective to meet primary healthcare needs of the villagers through curative, preventive and promoting services at their doorstep.
Kutumb's "CLINIC ON WHEELS" (COW) is a project for providing quality OPD services to the residents of marginalized villages lacking good healthcare facilities. It is a effort by Kutumb NGO to fulfill the gap between the villagers and the govt. healthcare infrastructure. Kutumb will provide quality OPD services and free medication at their doorsteps. Along with this, the outreach team will work intensively on increasing health awareness through sessions in schools and community with the objective to improve the health-seeking behavior and to lower down the disease incidence rate among the community.
“Clinic on Wheels” is planned to serve people for 3 years. 12 villages under 3 blocks will be covered under this project
Under DISHA Healthcare Project we provide medical aid to the underprivileged communities residing in the nearby villages and vulnerable communities, free of cost. We organize camps to various remote and rural areas to provide medical services to needy population.
We recently collabarated with Indian Railway to provide first aid and emergency medical services to slum-dwellers, poor vendors, beggers and travellers at Varanasi railway stations.
Till now we provided first aid and initial medical services to around 1000 + marginalised slum dwellers and poor people who used to live near railway stations, crowded market areas and travellers.
